On any given day, if you walk through Kavod Charter School, you’ll hear the sounds of learning and joy in our halls and classrooms: spirited singing, laughter among friends, and conversations between classmates. You’ll see a community of teachers and explorers (that’s what we call Kavod students!) engaged in active thinking, creating, speaking and doing. You’ll undoubtedly notice our structured and joyful TK-8, tuition-free school environment.
Our intentionally small school setting is the foundation for one-to-one connection and powerful student support. Together, explorers and teachers build trusted relationships that promote positive character and academic growth. We set high, but achievable, expectations for behavior while also providing compassionate guidance when a misstep occurs.
We believe that the hard work of learning and growing into the best version of yourself can also be fun! Some might even notice that our Hebrew classes are loud–that’s because we know that actively speaking a new language is the best way to learn! Through songs, conversations and lively lessons, all Kavod explorers engage with Hebrew in an authentic and meaningful way.
And we build opportunities for fun into our school year with events like classroom publishing parties, theater performances, Grandparents Day and even an elementary school family dance. Field trips to favorites like the San Diego Zoo or Israeli-designed Coastal Roots Farm are essential (and fun!) learning experiences. And our commitment to service learning cultivates a sense of belonging within our greater community, sparking friendships and good deeds.
Learning a new skill, like cooking or chess is another way we like to have fun. At the elementary level, our students enjoy Hebrew art, music and dance. Our middle school students can choose from a wide variety of clubs such as: Dungeons & Dragons, Art, Non-Competitive Sports, Journalism, Band, Hebrew Support, LGBTQ+/Rainbow, Math Support and Yearbook. There is something for everyone.
At Kavod Charter School, explorers thrive with meaningful learning, clear boundaries, and a strong foundation in our OLAM values. Join our tuition-free public school and find out what our structured and joyful community can do for your TK-8th grade student. Enrolling now for Fall 2023!
