Who We Are
Kavod is a community of educators, explorers and families dedicated to growing the next generation of bilingual, globally aware leaders who will make the world a more respectful place. We embrace the value of biliteracy, enriching the students, who we refer to as explorers, with both modern Hebrew and Spanish. Our high-quality rigorous curriculum and International Baccalaureate program develop compassionate global citizens. Kavod means “Respect” in Hebrew- and our vision is for every explorer to respect themselves, each other, their community, and other cultures. Kavod is a non-religious dual-language public elementary and middle school that offers a comprehensive program within a small caring community.
The Benefits of Kavod:
-
Dual-Language Acquisition: The cornerstone of our program, dual language learning enhances cognition and communication skills and contributes to higher rates of personal and career achievement. Modern Hebrew is offered to all TK-8 students and Spanish is currently offered to our 6th-8th grade students.
-
Quality Instruction: The high academic rigor of Kavod supports high achievers and GATE students. The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme grows critical thinkers who are prepared for the challenge of high school and college. Our middle school students are able to take high school level courses for credit on our campus.
-
The Value of a TK-8 Program: Research prove that K–8 models like ours are associated with higher academic achievement. Learn more here.
-
Values Curriculum & Service Learning: Growing good citizens is woven throughout our curriculum and includes opportunities for leadership. Students engage in age-appropriate service projects that contribute to an awareness of their role and responsibility within our community.
-
Global Awareness: Exposure to global perspectives starts early with our Culture and History of Israel and Immigrant Communities Curriculum. Students learn how their own community is connected to communities around the world.
-
Enrichments: Music, art and physical education are essential to our TK-5 program. Middle school students enjoy a wide variety of engaging electives and enrichment opportunities.
