Building Culture, One Event at a Time

What does it look like when a school truly invests in its community? At Kavod Charter School, it looks like families gathered around a table decorating cookies together. It looks like parents laughing over a board game night. It looks like our whole community moving together in rhythm at our Israeli Dance parties, carried forward by a tradition that connects our school to something larger than itself. These events are the building blocks of a culture where our families are seen, welcomed, and rooted.

Cultural Fair & Family Day is one of the most meaningful events on our Kavod calendar. In Hebrew, Kavod means respect, and Yom HaMishpacha (Hebrew: יום המשפחה), is one of the most beautiful expressions of this value. Observed in place of traditional Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations, this is a day dedicated entirely to honoring family, all families, in all their forms.

Each year, our explorers create art projects that represent their own family or that they can share with loved ones. Our whole school comes together for a Cultural Food Fair, where the rich diversity of our Kavod community is on full display through flavors, traditions, and stories that make each family unique.

Our newest event is our annual Fall Festival, exclusively for our school community. It’s a chance for families to kick off the school year together, reconnect after the summer, and celebrate the season in true Kavod fashion.

Toda Raba to Our Parent Volunteers

Kavod’s events don’t happen throughout the school year by themselves, they happen because Kavod families like you, show up, roll up your sleeves, and help make them possible. Volunteering is one of the most meaningful ways to deepen your connection to this community, and there is a role for everyone.

Our Parent Teacher Organization, Kavod Parent Committee (KPC),  plays a vital role in bringing our community events to life, and new volunteers are always warmly welcomed. If you’re ready to get involved with the Kavod Parent Committee, reach out to the KPC here: KPC@Kavodcharter.org

To every Kavod family who has shown up, danced, laughed, and helped build our community year after year, toda raba. You are the reason this community is something worth being a part of.

Current families: Keep an eye on your school calendar for upcoming events. We can’t wait to see you there.

If you’re newly learning about Kavod, and you’re ready to join a caring, connected community, complete an interest form today. We look forward to hearing from you!
