Our 6th-8th grade students love building their own schedule of classes that spark their interest. Here’s a sampling of what’s available at our tuition-free charter school:
Electives at Kavod Charter School
Middle school students at Kavod Charter School have the opportunity to choose two electives each semester from the dynamic list below. Elective classes are held 2-4 times per month and change each semester. Current offerings include:
Musical Production: Audition, rehearse, and perform the musical Matilda Jr.
Entrepreneurship & Invention: Learn the basics of inventing & innovating while creating your own product.
Debate: Thrilling debates on topics that matter–overcome your stage fright today!
Israeli Sitcom TV: Viewing, discussing and writing Israeli sitcoms, with friends.
Israeli Art: An exploration of current and past Israeli artists and the inspiration to create your own masterpiece.
Social Emotional Learning: Learn to manage emotions, self-regulate and build skills that will help you for life.
Yoga & Mindfulness: Connect your mind and body while being part of a community and increasing your flexibility.
Social Justice w/ Zines: Explore local and global social issues through the lens of zines and create your own!
Expressive Arts: Express yourself with painting, sculpting, drawing, dance and more!
Gardening: Design & build the school garden and grow your own food.
Coding: Learn the fundamentals for creating video games, animations, apps and more.
Enrichment at Kavod Charter School
Once a month during 7th period, students participate in an enrichment club of their choice. Enrichment is a fabulous time for our students to participate in a shared interest and bond in a safe, guided environment.
Student Council: Improve school culture and plan events for the whole student body.
Life Skills: Learn valuable life skills such as the basics of auto, financial awareness and using common tools to fix and build.
What’s Cooking With You?: Cook, prepare food and work together to make friends and build confidence.
Book Club: Read books, talk about books and wind down from a busy day in a cozy setting.
Rainbow/Leadership: Connect with like-minded peers while discussing LGBTQ+ literature, media, and figures.
Music Appreciation: Open your mind to a variety of music while listening and discussing the role of music in our lives.
