Every parent wants the same thing: the best possible start for their child. Navigating the world of traditional public schools, private school tuition, and charter schools can feel like a lot. Where do you even begin? If you haven’t explored what a charter school can offer, you might be closer to the perfect fit than you think.
Here’s what we want you to know: you don’t have to compromise. Kavod Charter School is a tuition-free option right here in San Diego, delivering rigorous and enriching classes to TK-8th grade students, and it might be exactly what you’ve been looking for. No tuition. No compromise.
What is a Charter School?
A charter school is a publicly funded, independently operated public school. Most charter schools are started from the ground up, by a team of passionate educators and parents who see a need in the community and decide to fill it. Our tight-knit school is no different: Kavod Charter School was started out of a desire to offer students and the San Diego community a tuition-free option for non-religious Hebrew (and Spanish!) language learning in a school setting that raises the bar for student achievement and character.
Charter schools operate under an agreement between the school and an approved authorizer that outlines how the school will educate students in exchange for public funds. A charter school’s authorization is renewed based on agreed upon expectations for educating students, including state standards and testing. Our students participate in California state testing and regularly meet and exceed the average in reading and math, placing Kavod in the top 4% of BEST K-8 public schools in the U.S.
Tuition-Free Language Learning
Charter schools are always tuition-free and they create choice for families and offer students unique programs centered around a fundamental mission. At Kavod Charter School, learning the Modern Hebrew language is essential to our mission. We believe it has immeasurable academic benefits including increased memory and focus, but it also opens doors to a world of career and travel opportunities.
Enrollment Open to All
Many parents assume that charter schools have selective admissions or require a special application process, but that’s not the case. As a public charter school, there are no entrance exams or interviews. Like all public schools, Kavod Charter School is open to all students, regardless of background, religion, or prior language knowledge.
