At Kavod Charter School, the physical and emotional safety of our explorers is our top priority.

We know that a safe, nurturing learning environment is built on a foundation of security, which is why we have prepared our K-8 tuition-free school to the highest safety standards. Your child is in good hands with us.

Welcoming & Diverse Environment

The most important element of safety at school starts with relationships. Kavod’s tight-knit small-school setting enables our staff and teachers to know every student – and their families – personally.

Building a positive K-8 school culture doesn’t happen in a day. Our welcoming community is founded upon shared values and a commitment to helping each student grow into the best version of themselves. We also hire staff that have broad knowledge of child development – which means that while we recognize that children will have bumps along the way to becoming better humans, it’s crucial that we are there to support them on their journey.

We build character and unity with classroom lessons on our OLAM values and anti-bullying, empathy and leadership. Our explorers know and enact our school values; Kavod means honor and respect in Hebrew and these values are woven throughout all aspects of our school, creating a culture of honor and respect towards learning and each other.

Our middle school explorers stay grounded and supported in our Advisory class, a mixed 6th-8th grade homeroom that provides a place to connect and belong. Explorers work on social-emotional skills and lessons on our. Advisory is just one of the reasons explorers say, “It’s really easy to make friends here.”

We are pleased to have Mr. Lopez, Director of School Culture, support our students through character education and restorative practices that put an emphasis on relationships, collaborative problem solving and collective responsibility. Our anti-bullying policy provides clear guidelines for reporting and addressing incidents. Kavod staff is also trained to recognize and respond to signs of bullying, and we work closely with parents to ensure that every child feels safe and supported at school.

Emergency Preparedness

While emergencies can happen anywhere, we’ve prepared our staff to respond quickly and effectively. We don’t just react, we anticipate through planning and assessing those plans regularly to find ways to improve them.

At Kavod, everyone belongs. Our close-knit community and positive, accepting culture makes school a place children want to spend their days and a place where you can find peace of mind for their safety. Reserve a spot for your child for Fall 2024 at Kavod Charter School.
