This month, Kavod (כבוד) embarked on an expansion project that will continue to move our tuition-free, TK-8 grade school forward. On November 4, 2024 Kavod gathered to celebrate the continuous growth and accomplishments as we broke ground at Kavod on the project. The school expansion signifies the substantial growth at Kavod Charter School right here in the San Diego area.
Groundbreaking Celebration
The Kavod community celebrated its facility expansion with a Beam Signing Ceremony, inviting our explorers, team members, founding and current board, families, and the construction team to sign the beam before it was placed into the new Multipurpose Building that will house a full gymnasium and theater.
The beam signing symbolized much more than a structural element, as we celebrated the legacy and collective efforts to make the expansion possible; connecting founding board members and current students with the future of Kavod, leaving a mark at the school, and creating a lasting bond to unify us all.
The event kicks off a two-part remodel, with plans for a stunning new elementary two-story building set to begin construction next year, creating a vibrant new space for learning. As Kavod continues to grow, the Hebrew and Spanish language school expanded this year in the lower grades by opening a second TK class to meet the demand of interest from the community.

To meet the growth in enrollment at Kavod, our school expansion project means enhanced facilities and new opportunities to support the success and well-being of every student. We want to ensure that every child has a place at Kavod to learn and thrive. By investing in our educational programs and strengthening the foundation of our school, our explorers will be challenged to meet their full potential. The whole-site project is made possible through the bond measures passed by San Diego voters to improve school facilities throughout San Diego Unified.
