Is your young learner showing strong language skills and a hunger to learn? Kavod is a nonreligious modern Hebrew language school for TK-8th grade, that brings the beauty of modern Hebrew learning to today’s public school community in San Diego. Here are benefits to taking on the academic rigor of a language immersive school:
Biliteracy at a young age improves cognitive skills
Learning more than one language at the same time, especially at a young age, teaches the brain to think differently, and actually develops more cognitive control. In short, bilingual children tend to be more advanced and open to more opportunities in work, social life and school.
Young brains learn multiple languages easier
Due to the plasticity of young explorer’s brains, their left and right brain hemispheres work together in equal measure to process information in each language they are learning. They learn to understand the social/emotional context of the language, as well as the analytical contexts. We at Kavod get to experience this every school day, watching the eager-to-learn linguists develop their critical-thinking skills in combination with their social emotional learning.
Explorers learn to appreciate diversity
As part of our language immersive program at Kavod, we teach cultural lessons from around the world, including holidays and traditions, because appreciating diversity is simply a part of learning multiple languages.
Kavod TK-8 explorers prepare for the ever-changing world
New technologies invite people to cooperate and collaborate with others all over the world. As the next generations of global explorers become fluent in Hebrew, Spanish, and English, modern career opportunities open up to them. Kavod invites inspirational bilingual guest speakers to motivate our students with success stories of real life experiences, and prepare them for this ever-evolving world.
Learning new languages is fun
Every language learner finds their own learning style. At Kavod we cater to all of the VARK learning styles (visual, auditory, reading/writing, and kinesthetic) for all the fun engaging ways to be an academic star. Hebrew language classes are lively and active. We act out words, sing, and dance out lessons. Explorers of all grades also get to enjoy field trips, school dances, and cultural fairs, while the 8th graders have the opportunity to go to Israel or leadership camps.
